Health Sector Law is a boutique legal practice advising clients in the health sector. The Practice Principal is Dr Tim Smyth. Tim was a partner in the Corporate and Commercial legal team at DLA Phillips Fox (now DLA Piper) and, more recently, Special Counsel with the Health, aged care and life sciences team at Holman Webb lawyers.
Tim’s legal clients have included health services, government agencies, public and private hospitals, doctors, professional associations, health funds, research bodies, Primary Health Networks, small and medium enterprises and other service providers to the health sector, non-government organisations and charities.
With degrees in medicine, law and business administration, Tim is well known in the Australian health industry, having worked as a doctor, hospital and health services manager, Area Health Service Chief Executive and Deputy Director-General in the NSW Ministry of Health. Building on over 30 years of experience, he has an in depth understanding of the health industry and government. Tim is also an experienced Board director.
Tim has been nominated by his peers as one of Australia’s Best Lawyers in Health and Aged Care Law in Best Lawyers Australia in both 2016 and 2017.
